Gratitude Propels Bader Scott Injury Lawyers to New Heights

Culture is a powerful force. It shapes companies, employees, and has a direct impact on the success of businesses and the customers they serve. At the heart of it all, culture shapes the character of a company. And character is what drives fulfillment, mission, and results.

Here at 7:47, we are actively involved in shaping the culture of companies across a wide array of industries, but law firms and the companies that support them have been a particular focus for our team over the last several years.

Our founder, Chris Schembra, first met Seth Bader at a gratitude dinner put on by mutual friend, Michael Mogill in Atlanta. That moment was nothing short of transformative. It gave us an incredible friendship and put them on a path toward increased human connection and incredible business growth.

We engaged Chris and the team at 7:47 after attending one of his gratitude dinners myself. Our firm has served so many and our team is central to everything we do. The several experiences we have done in connection with 7:47 have been nothing short of transformative. Our team is closer, more connected, and more fulfilled which has subsequently fueled an incredible season of growth.

The Challenge:

It’s no surprise that the legal field is both ripe with opportunity and fraught with obstacles for attorneys and the teams who support them. It’s been our experience that loneliness has taken center stage as a major epidemic and these firms are not immune. This is why gratitude is so essential.

From defending cases to meeting clients in the most dire of circumstances– lawyers are constantly “on”. It’s a demanding industry that requires loads of empathy and massive amounts of time and personal investment.

It’s no surprise then that all of this can take a surprising toll on the staff of firms across the country.

This is an important reminder that in today’s connection economy, there has never been a more important time to invest in our communities and circles of influence.

The Solution:

As we have detailed out in our resource on incorporating gratitude into corporate culture, gratitude matters. It’s the principle that started a great friendship and partnership between our two companies. Over a short time, we have accomplished several amazing things:

  • Chris Schembra (7:47) and Seth Bader met during an event put on by mutual friend Michael Mogill

  • Chris spoke at their annual offsite leadership event about the power of gratitude.

  • Seth invited us to his home to put on a similar gratitude experience for his executive team.  And then one for other law firm owners in his sphere of influence.

  • Chris spoke on the power of gratitude and his book Gratitude and Pasta during their newly formed daily huddle– a brand new concept inspired by previous gratitude experiences.

  • Chris gave a virtual keynote to their entire team on the power of infusing gratitude into every aspect of work and life.

Here is the reality. An event is not the solution– it’s a mindset. That’s exactly what took place here with each of these experiences. It’s an idea that took an early foothold and has now infused itself through their entire team. Whether it was a team event that left no one with a dry eye or the communal aspect of observed gratitude, human connection was and continues to be fostered in amazingly powerful ways.

Results:

We think it’s very important to dispel the myth that the primary result of gratitude is a warm fuzzy feeling.

Sure, that can be a natural byproduct of increased human connection. But for law firms and the companies that serve them, it’s essential to note that gratitude is an investment that makes economic sense.

Research has proven that the continued practice of gratitude drives a number of economic benefits. It brings fulfillment, joy, and a tangible ROI.

Bader Scott Injury Lawyers is no exception. Here are a few of their recent notable achievements:

  • For the second year in a row, they have been named one of the top 40 fastest-growing companies in Atlanta according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle and one of the fastest-growing Law Firms in the State of Georgia.

  • Bader Law Firm brought on a new partner and became Bader Scott Injury Lawyers.

  • Their team has grown from roughly 25 to well over 150 now, benefiting greatly from their daily all-hands “Gratitude Huddles”.

  • In just two years, the firm has grown to facilitate nearly $100 million in settlements.

Now we want to be clear, our work has not been the sole factor in this growth. The Bader Scott team is hard-working, driven, and talented. Introducing an enhanced sense of gratitude only poured fuel on an already lit fire. That’s the perfect recipe for success. When firms and companies in the legal space invest in their team and clients, there is greater joy, fulfillment, and productivity that propels their entire organization to new heights.

We are so thankful for our friendship with their team and cannot wait to see what the future has in store.
