Our founding story
At 7:47pm on July 15, 2015, our Founder, Chris Schembra, knew he had unlocked something special. He realized he wasn't the only one on this planet starving for empathy and human connection.
That summer, Chris had returned home to New York City after producing a Broadway play in Italy. He felt disconnected from his work. A deep sense of isolation. Chris started experimenting in his kitchen and created a pasta sauce recipe. Was it any good? He needed an outside opinion.
He invited 15 of his friends over for dinner and served his new pasta sauce. They enjoyed the meal, but there was something they enjoyed more. The format of the dinner: delegated tasks, shared activities, and communal discussion. It felt real.
At 7:47pm that night, Chris asked the question:
“If you could give credit or thanks to one person in your life, that you DON’T give enough credit or thanks to, who would that be?”
In answering that question, many of the attendees experienced tears of joy, tears of love. They came from a deeply tucked away response to human connection and empathy. In the safe space of the dinner party, with members sharing their stories, the power of community awakens the real from within.
Our 7:47 Gratitude Experience™ has evolved and expanded since that first pasta dinner, but the format remains the same.
